the writing and teaching of jay michaelson
Jay Michaelson is an award-winning writer and teacher whose work focuses on
intersections of Judaism, law, contemplative practice, and sexuality. He is a columnist for the Forward, the chief editor
of Zeek: A Jewish Journal of Thought and Culture, the executive director of Nehirim: GLBT Jewish Culture & Spirituality, and the
author of God in Your Body: Kabbalah, Mindfulness, and Embodied Spiritual
Practice (2007). Currently a visiting professor at Boston University Law School, Jay is a Ph.D candidate in Jewish thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and holds a J.D. from Yale. Whether in the academic world or as a visiting scholar in residence, Jay combines intellectual rigor with an alternative cultural sensibility and a personal devotion to the contemplative path.
